Background
This was a school assignment where the focus was to develop a fitness application called Fit Fusion. The assignment was introduced with the following brief:
“The fitness and health industry is constantly evolving, and we aim to create a digital solution that not only supports users in their training but also provides an engaging and motivating experience. The goal is to design a prototype for a fitness app that combines functionality with an appealing interface.”
In this project, a strong emphasis was placed on UX tools and design processes, which meant I worked through the entire chain – from research and wireframes to user flows, color themes, and usability testing.
02. RESEARCH
Understanding is the key
During the research phase, I used the Baymard Institute’s resources to deepen my understanding of best practices for key functions. This included breadcrumbs, main navigation, product categories, “view all” features, and other essential design patterns.
03. DESIGN
Style guide
For this project I created a style guide including: Logo, typography, colors, styles (shadows, overlays), grids, images and icons. I created the style guide to help me during the work process of the app.

05. REFLECTION
Reflection & Lessons Learned
Working on Fit Fusion gave me a deeper understanding of how to create a consistent and user-friendly design. I learned how to use design systems to build structure and reusable components, and I explored the difference between a design system and a style guide. I also gained hands-on experience applying Jakob Nielsen’s 10 usability heuristics, which helped me focus on user-centered design regarding navigation, error prevention, and visual hierarchy.
Throughout the project, I practiced several key UX methods such as wireframing, information architecture, and usability testing, where feedback from my peers helped refine design decisions. I also worked with responsive design, learning how to adapt interfaces across different devices.
Overall, this project strengthened my ability to combine theory with practice, to translate research into concrete design choices, and to work iteratively to improve the user experience.
